Position Overview: The Store & Shelving Clerk is responsible for stocking shelves, organizing displays, and ensuring that products are easily accessible and attractively presented to customers. This role involves maintaining accurate inventory levels, assisting customers in locating products, and keeping the store clean and orderly. The Store & Shelving Clerk plays a crucial role in ensuring a positive shopping experience by keeping the store well-stocked, organized, and visually appealing.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Stocking and Shelving:
   • Stock shelves with products, ensuring that items are properly labeled, priced, and displayed according to store standards.
   • Rotate products to ensure freshness, following the first-in, first-out (FIFO) method.
   • Replenish shelves and displays as needed to maintain a full and attractive presentation of products.
2. Product Organization and Display:
   • Organize products in a logical and visually appealing manner, following store layout and merchandising guidelines.
   • Set up promotional displays, end caps, and special displays to highlight featured products and promotions.
   • Ensure that all products are easy to locate and accessible to customers.
3. Inventory Management:
   • Monitor inventory levels on the sales floor and in storage areas, and report any low-stock items or discrepancies to the Department Manager.
   • Assist with receiving shipments, checking for accuracy, and stocking items in the correct locations.
   • Participate in inventory counts and help maintain accurate inventory records.
4. Customer Service:
   • Assist customers in locating products and answer questions about product availability, pricing, and store policies.
   • Provide recommendations to customers based on their needs and preferences.
   • Handle customer inquiries and resolve any issues promptly to ensure a positive shopping experience.
5. Cleanliness and Store Maintenance:
   • Maintain a clean and orderly sales floor, including aisles, shelves, and display areas.
   • Ensure that all products are arranged neatly and that aisles are free of clutter and obstacles.
   • Clean up spills, debris, and other hazards promptly to ensure a safe shopping environment.
6. Price Verification and Labeling:
   • Ensure that all products are accurately labeled with the correct price, description, and promotional information.
   • Verify prices during stocking and report any discrepancies to the Department Manager.
   • Update shelf labels and signs as needed to reflect changes in pricing or promotions.
7. Assisting with Store Operations:
   • Collaborate with other store departments to ensure smooth overall operations and a positive customer experience.
   • Assist with special tasks as directed by the Department Manager, such as setting up displays or preparing for inventory counts.
   • Provide support during busy periods, including assisting at the checkout or in other departments as needed.
8. Compliance with Store Policies:
   • Adhere to all store policies and procedures, including those related to safety, security, and customer service.
   • Follow all health and safety regulations, including proper food handling and sanitation practices.
   • Report any suspicious activities or security concerns to the Department Manager or store security.

Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience: Previous experience in a grocery or retail environment is a plus but not required.
• Skills:
  • Strong customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy items, stand for extended periods, and perform tasks that require physical activity.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic math skills for inventory management and price verification.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
